    • In October 2025, the piloting of the Open University study format and the newly developed study modules was launched at the University of Innovation and Digital Technologies of Tajikistan. Two study modules are being piloted — “Fruit and Vegetable Processing Technologies” and “Food Safety Management.”

      From October 13 to 17, academic staff from the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies and the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra are participating in the piloting process. Dr. Dace Klava, Dr. Evita Straumīte, and Dr. Liene Ozola supported the local partner’s academic staff in the delivery of lectures and conducting laboratory sessions related to fruit and vegetable processing technologies. Ph.D. Peter Zajac and Ph.D. Jozef Čapla were sharing their expertise on food safety management. A visit to a meat processing enterprise Oriyon Rustam, the associated partner of the OFINU project, was organized as part of the piloting activities. Academic staff from the other project’s partner universities were taking part in the activities as well.

      Students, employees of food industry companies, and academic staff from other universities involved in the OFINU project are participating in the piloting. The validation of the new study format, course content, and teaching methods represents an important step towards introducing innovative teaching approaches in Tajikistan.
